Cheers actress Kirstie Alley dies after brief illness.
Kirstie Alley, an American performer who was in shows like “Cheers” and “Veronica’s Closet,” has died at the age of 71.
Her children said in a statement, “We are really saddened to tell you that our beautiful, strong, and beloved mother has died after a brief struggle with cancer.”
“She was accompanied by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.”
The statement continues, “As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”
Her loved ones went on to express gratitude to the “amazing” medical at Florida’s Moffitt Cancer Centre for their treatment.
Our mother’s love for her family, friends, and the animals she cared for were unrivaled, and her example has encouraged us to embrace every moment of our lives.
Alley starred in a variety of movies during the 1980s and 1990s, including Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Summer School (1987), Shoot to Kill (1988), and so many more.
In 1994, for the television movie David’s Mother, she received her second Emmy Award. While starring in the murder thriller The Last Don in 1997, Alley was once again recognized by the Emmys for her outstanding performance.
She appeared as a fictional character of herself in the 2005 Showtime series Fat Actress. Alley made her acting comeback as the title character in the 2013 comedy Kirstie. During the 2016 season, she had an appearance on the Fox horror comedy Scream Queens.
In 2010’s Kirstie Alley’s Big Life, she placed second. She was a competitor on Dancing with the Stars’ 12th season (2011-2012) and Celebrity Big Brother’s 22nd season (2018), where she finished second. She had an appearance on “The Masked Singer” in the year 2022.
