South Korea’s military could not attack North Korea’s drones: concerns over civilian safety
On Monday, five drones from North Korea entered South Korean territory. The drones were first identified around 10:30 in the morning. According to the reports the drones were flying over several South Korean cities.
South Korea’s military sent various fighter jets and fired shots to shoot North Korean drones, but they failed to get any of them down. Drones were successfully returned to North Korean territory even after South Korean military personnel followed them for hours.
On Tuesday, during a cabinet meeting, Yoon Suk Yeol, president, said “We want to establish a drone-monitoring military unit to keep an eye on North Korea’s most important military installations. Our surveillance network will be expanded, and cutting-edge stealth drones will be introduced.
He said that in order for the South Korean military to be adequately prepared to deal with the dangers presented by North Korean drones, more rigorous training and preparation is required.
